ABSTRACT

The continuous-flow Pickering emulsion biocatalysis system present considerable potential for scale-up industrial applications. In this text, SiO2 nanoparticles were hydrophobically modified using trimethylchlorosilane (TMCS) and subsequently utilized for the immobilization of Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB), resulting in the creation of a dual-functional material CALB@SiO2-TMCS, which functions both as an emulsifier and a biocatalyst. A novel natural deep eutectic solvents-in-oil (NADES/O) Pickering emulsion was developed. The catalytic efficiency of the NADES/O Pickering emulsion was 9.43-fold and 4.73-fold greater than those of the biphasic system and the O/NADES Pickering emulsion, respectively. Furthermore, the continuous-flow NADES/O Pickering emulsions demonstrated extensive substrate adaptability to crude oils, consistently achieving a catalysis efficiency exceeding 98% during continuous operation over a period of 888 h. Consequently, the innovative and effective continuous-flow NADES/O Pickering emulsion developed in this study represent a promising platform that facilitates advancements in Pickering interfacial biocatalysis.
